Just out of curiosity, why? Is it a "saves money issue"?

Saves money? I'm afraid I don't follow you Shannon? It's more like a "saves sanity" issue.

I know I've explained this elsewhere at the forum, but perhaps an explanation is better served here. We've had instances where a member will start a new topic of which many posts will evolve from. The new thread continues to age like a fine wine with many informative posts (or replies). Then out of the blue, the original author of said topic suddenly decides to remove him or herself from the group, and is compelled in some strange way to take all of his or her posts with them. This includes the ability to not only edit out all of their posts, but to remove the subject header (or name of the thread) that they started as well! This leaves a murdered thread with nothing left to show but blank spaces including the name of the thread itself, not to mention the now incoherent and nonsensical replies. This is totally unacceptable. Too many other folks have invested their time and energy into threads just to have one individual with the ability to pull the entire rug out from underneath the thread. This is why the change was made; to preserve and protect content from being totally obliterated by one individual.

If anyone feels they need assistance above and beyond the 24hr time limit with post edits, all they need to do is contact a mod here, and we will be more than happy to assist.

Cool by me, and good to know. I was thinking that perhaps there was something to do with "active" vs. "archived" servers, but I be that has a lot more to do with large data storage and access. I like the idea that words are left to stand, wish there was individual way for users to upload photos to a group account that would then lock them too, but realize the logistics are too great, plus ebay would jump on us right quick ;-). I've got a bad habit of posting during my insomnia, but that usually just leads to misspellings and pronoun disagreements, and I usually catch it within a day, and the meaning is usually clear enough anyway.

Quite. As time passes people are gonna either reorganize or delete their accounts at Photobucket or wherever and we'll have a bunch of threads full of people commenting on pic's which can no longer be seen. I know that I've already seen at least a couple of older threads like this. Everybody saying "Wow, that's the coolest looking one of those I've ever seen" about a Photobucket messege that says "This image has been moved or deleted".

It would take a photobucket style account, but with an access only feature, which was connected to your UMA log in, and there is no such beast that I know of, especially not a free one.

Good idea.

A million plus dollar one, if you can crack it. Lemme know, and kick me ten percent, if you don't mind.  ;)
