From Aurora to AHI and back again...

It's no secret AHI famously "borrowed" the Aurora model kit head sculpts for their 8" monster figures.

I thought it would be cool to take what AHI did and reverse it, replicating the AHI look on an original Aurora Frankenstein.

I began by painting the head flesh color first, then applying the green over it to look like a painted vinyl head. I recreated the factory paint,
blue eyeshadow and all. Finally I did a faint color "rub" on the high points of the face to simulate paint wear, allowing the flesh color to show through.

All the Aurora monsters will be getting the AHI treatment!

Wow!  I just obtained an Aurora Frankenstein repro model kit and that’s what I’m going to do as well!

I had an AHI figure as a kid but not the Aurora kit.  To me, he has to have the AHI paint scheme.  The head painted like you did it and black boots, brown shirt like the figure.

Outstanding paint job on the heads!!!!!
