Sideshow figure question

I have the SSE versions of the silent era such as the Chaney's (except Red death which is not) and Nosferatu, what I would like to know is there a difference in collectibles? Because a friend suggested that I should only get the colour versions as they are the official versions, even though I love the black and white silent ones and my set is not complete because of the missing colour versions. What do the members think I would love to know. Also because the Phantom is a classic Universal monster should I get a colour version of him to complete the Universal set.

Maurice my friend, As you are from the Emerald Isle you should only collect the green monsters. That's right, just the Franks and the Creature for you. Only kidding, of course. You should get only what you like. Your friends can make suggestions (like this), but it's all up to you. I personally like the color versions, what you would call the colour versions. (hee hee) I do have soime in B & W though, as those the versions I happened to find on sale when they were out. You can try to be a completist and get every version of every figure. That may be hard (and expensive) to do. Lett us know which way you decide to go.

The only thing about the Black and White versions is that not all of the figures came out in Black and Whiite AND in colour. Several where only made in colour, such as the Mutant, Red Death, Moleman, etc. Soooo, eventually you will have to buy some colour versions if want a complete set. Then you'll have a bunch of B/W and a few colour, and (imo) that will look wierd. to be honest, I like the colour versions best and they look SUPER cool all displayed together. However, if you like the B/W buy them, they are really neat. I would not worry to much about lonf term collectability as only time will tell on that. However, some of the B/W versions where made in much lower quantities then the colour versions of the same figure, so thats something to consider (Only 10 b/w Son of Franks where released) You might findit frustrating after you have built up a cool b/w collection that you have to add a few in colour or that a b/w version is just really hard to find (i.e. the Son of Frank).

There is nothing unofficial about either the silver screen or color versions. They are all equally "official." I think most collectors prefer the color ones. For display purposes, I think the silver screen ones might have the upper hand. Some of the paint and fabric hues on the color ones look a little off, like Frankie's green jacket.

Collect whatever you liek and both versions are officially licensed. I actually sold off my color versions of Chaney's Midnight and Nosferatu as I liked the Black and White much better. I also have them in the premium format in color which I prefer those to the B and White. To each their own.

Almost all of mine are the color ones. I think I may have one o 2 of the b/w ones. Never got them, don't know why. Buy what you like and you'll never go wrong. In the past, with other "collectables", I bought everything and anything, but now looking back on everything I bought, i start thinking to my self "Why did I buy this and this and this.....?", so now I only buy what I like. It's alot less expensive too.
