Tim Burton's "Wednesday" Netflix series.

Well the Wednesday show has finally made it's debut, and I although I have yet to see it, this review confirms to me, what I suspected about the show. In fairness to the show's creators, their previews did a good job on letting us know what we could expect from Tim Burton's first TV series.

Yes and no.  It's a TV show on Netflix.  Really interesting and well done.  Not gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but I liked it.  It's a suspense/mystery with horror and sci-fi elements.  It's more sci-fi than horror, but you don't realize it until you get closer to the end of the season.

Yeah.  It's brand new.  I was in need of something to watch, waiting for this new Addams series, so I took a chance on it.  I really enjoyed this season.  I hope the next seasons are similar and don't do too much shifting beyond the year in the title.

I don't much see the need for cable.  I get it for free for now, but I wouldn't pay for it.  There's not a lot on Streaming, though, either.  And I think the reason is because all of these online series have such short seasons.  This 1899 series only had 8 episodes in its premiere season, typical for Netflix, but annoying.  You just run out of things to watch very quickly.  The network, cable, and streaming systems are all broken now, and I'm not sure how to go about fixing them.  The models just don't work.  Streaming staked traditional viewing, but it dug its own grave by making everything available all the time and constantly having to produce new high-quality content to keep subscribers.  This wasn't a problem with cable or network TV, because everything was better managed...  Heck, it was MANAGED, and streaming just isn't.  Look what happened over at Disney with the new CEO who just got fired.  Disney had, for decades, a constant source of revenue: first with theatrical releases (and re-releases), then with home media releases (and its re-releases from the Vault), but as soon as they put everything online, they broke their own extremely successful model for revenue.  How do you recover from that?

Look what happened over at Disney with the new CEO who just got fired.

Yeah, they fired Chapek and immediately replaced him with the former CEO Bob Iger.  There was no transition.  They just terminated Chapek.  He didn't even get a goodbye.  The first email that came out about this to Disney employees was from the new (former) CEO Bob Iger, saying he was back and ready to get the company moving again.  The fact they got rid of Chapek was not surprising.  The fact it happened without him even being able to take a breath is the shocking part.

Disney is at a pivotal moment, and this could be a sign that the expansion is considered a failure and this is a return to the same old same old.
