If I posted this here before, I apologize. I don't believe I have, though.

When I was in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade, somewhere around 1983-85, I got a Universal Monsters book from the school book fair. I believe it was a Scholastic Fair, but it could have been put on by Troll, or another similar publisher.

The book had synposes and trivia about the major Universal films. I seem to recall the cover being primarily blue, and having painted vignettes of the monsters heads running from top to bottom. This is really foggy for me though.

I recall the Wolf Man section containing the word "antiques" (referencing Gwen Conliffe's family antique shop), and I famously (among my family) pronounced it "anti-cues", which some of my family still recalls.

I have been searching for any evidence of this book for several decades now. I have asked on many forums, and have done many, MANY searches online, but I can't turn up the book I know I had.

The two books that show up in my searches most often are below, but while I haven't seen the insides of these books, I don't think either are the one I'm looking for.

I know it's not much to go on, but anyone have a clue as to what book I'm searching for?

Thanks!

I purchased the Movie Monsters book years ago on EBAY. Only because Alan Ormsby( Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, Deranged,  Deathdream, Porky's II) is the author of the book.

There are currently four or five copies listed on EBAY. Hope this info helps.

I have both books somewhere.  lol   If I dig them up, I'd be more than glad to look inside.

^I don't think it's the two books I pictured above, but I have never had the oppportunity to look inside of them to see. Maybe I should just buy a copy of each and finally find out.

Who know, my mind may have created a memories around this book of mine that hard facts won't back up. It's also odd that I never came across it in my childhood home, as my mother kept EVERYTHING.

I don't know the book you mean.

But your question made me think it would be fun to have a Universal Monsters Trivial Pursuits game.

This is a Scholastic publication with the monsters all in a row, but it is the wrong year.

^Hey, that looks cool, but about a decade too late. I was in college by then. But thanks for posting!

The two books I got at the book fair in the late 70s and early 80s were both called Great Monsters of the Movies.
