house of frankenstein 1997
« on: February 24, 2009, 01:54:06 PM »
Does anyone remember the tv mini series that was broadcast on NBC
october 28 1997?
I remember they had a great looking frankenstein monster that was
defrosted from a block of ice.
Also a beautiful girl that played the female werewolf (if Larry
Talbot had met her he wouldn't have been so sad.)

Sorry to say I never heard of it.  I would have watched it if I had.

Except for a decent performance by the actor playing The Monster, it is Truly Worthless Crap.

I saw it, but don't remember much, except that I haven't had the urge to see it again. Apparently it had been released on DVD, though I can't seem to find a copy.

House of Frankenstein 1997
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

House of Frankenstein 1997 (also called simply House of Frankenstein in some advertisements) is a television mini-series that revives Universal's classic threesome, Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and the Wolf Man. This reinterpretation is set in late 1990s Los Angeles, with the action revolving around a nightclub named House of Frankenstein that is full of vampires. It first aired on October 28, 1997 on the NBC television network, which also produced it.

[edit] Characters
Dracula (Greg Wise) is known to the police as a serial killer nicknamed "The Midnight Raptor" but he is known in human form as millionaire Crispian Grimes, owner of the nightclub House of Frankenstein, which is secretly a haven for vampires.
Frankenstein's monster (Peter Crombie) is based on the novel more than previous movie incarnations of this character. He is discovered frozen in a block of ice and planned as an exhibit for House of Frankenstein, then escapes.
The Wolf Man is unlike the Universal character in that he is also evil when he is in human form, and he transforms into an actual wolf. He has little screen time.
Vernon Coyle (Adrian Pasdar) is a police detective trying to solve the case of "The Midnight Raptor."
Grace Dawkins (Teri Polo) is a newly bitten werewolf who is also the love interest of detective Vernon Coyle. She has much more screen time than the Wolf Man does.

I only remember being distracted and annoyed by some character's comment that this Monster had no blood and/or pulse - just electricity inside him.  I mean, come on ....

My DVD copy of house of frankenstein 1997 came yesterday.
After supper I put in the dvd player.
Believe it or not, I enjoyed it more than the first time I saw it.
Granted it's not a great, classic monster movie.
But compared to whats being done on TV now
it's worth a watch.

I remember watching this when it first aired, and to this day, the only thing I can recall is that I was annoyed at the explanation that Dracula has authority over the werewolf because the werewolf was some sort of "lesser" undead.  Werewolf=undead?  Really?

Not too long ago, I managed to find the Don Davis score from the TV mini-series, though, and it's not all that bad . . .
I podcast, therefore I am . . .

I guess technically, only if they've been resurrected across more than one film...
