My Halloween 2021 decorating - so far!
« on: October 16, 2021, 03:25:58 AM »
Hey guys! This is becoming a tradition for me - posting my Halloween decorating on the forum! So let's get started!

First the "island" in the dining area:

And the kitchen table (which is dominated at this point by my aloe vera plants!):

The kitchen hutch:

Hall door:

This is the glow in the dark section which is atop the bookshelf on the right in upcoming photos - I have some Kooky Spookys and Mego glow in the dark monsters here, along with Moon Blob in the Erlenmeyer flask (I added blue glow in the dark powder to it - hard to get pics of this):

A better pic, with Svenghoulie showing:

I have some Night Gallery posters framed in the front room as well. I got the idea of adding glow in the dark stickers on the eyes (since the stickers will be on the plastic frame, not the poster itself and won't damage it) and it stands out like crazy! I love this!

The pics don't do it justice - in real life they stand out so bright, and seem to follow you as you walk across the room! Next, a wide view of the front room. The glow in the dark stuff like the Kooky Spookys is atop the bookshelf on the right - the light blurs it out in the far away pics:

This shows the comic rack full of horror comics and magazines, the blacklight making the Ouija board and vintage Kabala game glow!

A somewhat closer pic of Kabala and Ouija:

Wish I could get some clearer pics of all this. Lighting is a bitch! Especially with the contrast between the blacklight and glow in the dark stuff. This is the table next to the couch with the lamp with an orange light bulb:

And here I filter out some of the orange to bring out the details of the decorations:

I love this next picture! Facing the wall behind  the couch. The Night Gallery poster is Daughters of Darkness, which you can see better in later pics I have further down. But note the monstrous blue face at the bottom right hand corner of the picture frame - it's an optical illusion but so perfectly suited to the holiday!

I lightened the pic to capture the glow in the dark effect on the eyes and other decorations:

It looks amazing here!

This is the hallway leading to the bedrooms and bathrooms.

This is just past the last pic, an 8ft giant King Kong poster I won from Big John (of Time Tunnel Toys - thanks John!) at one of the old Portage Theater Monster Shows (John, will you be at Kane County?Wheaton Halloween event this Oct. 30th?):

Workout room, what used to be the music shelf:

Wish that one wasn't so blurry. I'll try to get some better pics during the season.

Next to the Dungeons & Dragons bookshelf, I have some framed Halloween pics:

Back to the front room because I forgot to take a picture of the actual bookshelf with the Kooky Spookys on top:

Coffee table and kitty on the floor in the front room:

Finally, some shots of the balcony. I put some tombstones and black cats with glow in the dark eyes out there, along with some pumpkins. Hard to get a good night shot, but this gives you guys an idea:

Tomorrow I'll post some of this year's jack-o-lantern pics (so far) and some from Bengston Farm Pumpkin Patch. Hope you like these! Enjoy!

Wow!!!!! Really nice display and photos, Barlow.
By the way. The Ka-bala game is rad.

Thanks for all the pics of your weird wonders, Barlow. If you ever got cut off,
that's enough stuff in there to keep a monsterkid entertained for years.

Thanks everyone! Glad you liked it. Halloween decorating is becoming almost as involved as my Xmas decorating at this point!

Australia has been increasing Halloween visibility in recent years, led by our bargain/cheap stores.
