Jesus wept, these are phenomenal! That Invisible Man alone is a thing of beauty.

The new Mego Mr. Hyde is a bit of a missed opportunity. Rather than go with a true Fredric March likeness, they went the generic, unlicensed route. Still, the figure does have a slight resemblance which I tried to build on for my customized version.

You mean for all these years I’ve been thinking that my issue of FM was just a not so spot on rendition of Fredric March!  :o :o :o

You mean the FM '67 YB cover?

The photo is from the Dick Smith "Monster Makeup Handbook".

Actually, the issue I have is #96, where they reprinted it.

Couldn't have been Fredric March. Robert Louis Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was published in 1886 while Fredric March wasn't born until 1897. Stevenson must therefore have been narrating some other doctor's experiences even if said doctor's name was changed to protect the privacy/reputation of his family.

Basil Gogos' renderings though were pretty spot-on photo-realistic portrayals of what was contained in Robert Louis Stevenson's written account of the frightening events:

Quote from: Robert Louis Stevenson
Mr. Hyde was pale and dwarfish, he gave an impression of deformity without any nameable malformation, he had a displeasing smile, he had borne himself to the lawyer with a sort of murderous mixture of timidity and boldness, and he spoke with a husky, whispering and somewhat broken voice; all these were points against him, but not all of these together could explain the hitherto unknown disgust, loathing and fear with which Mr. Utterson regarded him. “There must be something else,” said the perplexed gentleman. “There is something more, if I could find a name for it. God bless me, the man seems hardly human! Something troglodytic, shall we say? or can it be the old story of Dr. Fell? or is it the mere radiance of a foul soul that thus transpires through, and transfigures, its clay continent? The last, I think; for, O my poor old Harry Jekyll, if ever I read Satan’s signature upon a face, it is on that of your new friend.”

Gogos' pictorial portrayal:

I understand that James Bama also consulted the original source material for his renderings:

These gentlemen may also have had access to old nineteenth century photos of at least Dr. Jekyll. Both Basil Gogos and James Bama were conscientious practitioners of their craft and I'm sure their representations would have accurately depicted whatever could be gleaned from the historical documents.

That is, indeed, a custom Paula Dupree (ironically made from a Zira figure). Jungle Captive is a true guilty pleasure of mine!  :) :) :)
