The horror of "DK" vs the terror of "Plague"
« on: March 28, 2021, 06:20:18 PM »

It's a showdown between the two scariest characters from Don Post's 960 line,
that often overlooked series of "Hooded Ghouls" catalogued in the early to mid 1980s.

The ghastly scarlet skullface known as DK actually preceded its rival by a couple of years
and gained immortality of sorts through a fleeting appearance in the movie "Halloween 3".

The sallow and snaggletoothed PLAGUE earned a different kind of notoriety by beating out
all its peers as "cover ghoul" on DP's 1984 catalog >

The two met face-to-face this afternoon in a tense standoff, seemingly challenging each other
for scary supremacy in the monster mask world ... but there can only be one winner. You decide
which is scariest, the horrific DK or the terrifying PLAGUE

If any DPS alumni out there can provide creation/production info on these characters,
I promise to [LIKE] your replies with alacrity!

The two masks were both sculpted by the very talented Jim Leonard.  Paint schemes by Rob and Cathy Tharp.  Those are Rob's eyes looking out of the Plague mask in the catalog photo.  My vote goes to D.K., because it's easier to spell!   ;D

Posed like that, they look like they are ready to do The Electric Company segment “Soft Shoe Silhouette.”
