As much as I love Neca, and I think they have done some amazing jobs, it's hard for me to get excited about this again.

The UM style manual is hard to overcome, and I fear we are in for a lot more green jackets, and generic Draculas

It appears the first Frank they are offering is black and white. So a bullet can be dodged regarding the green jacket on that one at least. I hope no generic Dracs, lol. I will be honest, if they could just give me an ultimate, definitive Wolfman, with heads of the different make ups, and maybe Larry Talbot I would be happy.

An Ultimate Edition Wolf Man with an alternate Talbot head (along with alternate human hands) would be amazing.

I was pissed when NECA cancelled the Planet of the Apes line. I thought they were cool figures and had them all. The JAWS Brody/Scheider fiasco also sucked. But I'll buy these Universal Monsters. The Frankenstein looks boss af.

If NECA makes a silver screen and color versions, you can just pop the color head and hands on the silver screen version.

Also...Mezco's color version of Frank has a black jacket.  Maybe its something they can request?

YES! This is awesome news! I've wanted them to go into the Universal Monsters for ages, I wonder if the loss of the Godzilla license pushed them to expand into additional properties or if this had been in the making for a while. Eitherway they look great and Neca's style of repainting and remolding will fit perfectly with the license

For Karloff Frankenstein alone they could make Black and White, Color, Poster, Burned, and the Fur clothes. Likewise with The Mummy they can easily remold Imhotep into Klaris and just milk ALL of the variants they can do with him

I must insist upon one thing. Under no circumstances are you to go out onto the moors at night.

I’ve always been under the assumption that it’s Universal themselves that have kept us from getting a Kharis mummy. Like some how they don’t want to confuse the mummy brand with both Imhotep AND Kharis.  I know we got a Kharis variant with Hasbro 12” line and Horizon produced a beautiful Tom Tyler version of Kharis as a vinyl model kit in the 90s....although come to think of it...we did get a Kharis as the Mummy when Neca did the bobble head line.

The reason for this is two-fold: the 2002/3 re-design of the Universal Monsters in the style book AND the Karloff deal.  BEFORE the 2003 re-design and the later Karloff deal (especially in the late '90s), we were seeing Kharis everywhere.  Since the Karloff deal, we have seen ZIP.  The 1997 style guide art, which featured Kharis heavily, and the 1991 art, which was clearly based on Kharis, just disappeared after the 2003 style guide re-do, which aimed to remove the monsters from the actors as much as possible.  And this art has NOT changed in 20 years with the exception of adding Karloff's face to the monster and the Mummy when license holders opt to pay for it.  When the Karloff deal was struck, Universal put Karloff's face on everything: every package, every piece of art.  Strange and Chaney just got the boot.  The 2003 stylebook re-do was the worst thing to happen to the Universal Monsters, which were doing so well in the 1997 style guide, the shortest and best in our lifetimes.

Not sure how I feel about the headsculpts. They don't look quite right, not gaunt enough. I hope they do a retro-cloth version, and I hope we get some ultimates for Kharis and the Wolfman.

I like the neutral head sculpt. Not a fan of the more expressive ones. I don't tend to swap heads on my figures that often, though, so I can live with it.

My biggest problem is lack of accessories. I mean, I don't know what else Frankenstein can come with, but Ultimate Edition figures usually come with a lot.
