not sure why a forger would bother with a dedication as complicated as this one.
Yeah I would think that’s definitely a good sign, not sure why a forger would bother with a dedication as complicated as this one. I still haven’t figured out what it says!
Sadly, that's exactly why forgers do it. The unsuspecting assume legitimacy and fall for it.
Karloff's secretary is known to have signed a lot of his publicity photos. Spend the $75 + to have it authenticated if you're looking for something factual. Sadly, that's exactly why forgers do it. The unsuspecting assume legitimacy and fall for it.
The 2 reasons I'm confident forgers wouldn't add any extra is, that's more writing susceptible to be analyzed. The other is, they're now limited to selling only to a person with the same name. They could be waiting an eternity for that to happen.JP
Well after sending some pics to Beckett and having them say they don’t think it would pass authentication and staring at more Karloff signatures than I can count I think I’m sending it back. The more I looked at it the more issues showed up. A lot of his letters changed through the years but some didn’t seem to so I focused on those. The line on his B’s always has a slant and the S always has a small hump or loop at the top this one doesn’t have either of those. I didn’t like how the last F in Karloff stoppers so abruptly. I never saw another signature of his on two lines. The overall size of the B is inconsistent with any of the others I saw. When you take the picture out in the sun it shows a lot of wear for it’s age but the actual signature has none, no tiny scratches nothing. It’s pretty disappointing but I think I learned quite a bit, I’ll be better prepared next time.
Do you collect autographs, JP?
Probably my favorite I own is Fred Gwynne.JP
