I have a mint (no cracks or scuffs) 1963 Standard Plastic Products Universal Monster's Wallet along with all four cards that came with it.  I believe that this is a rarer version without the Magic Slate (from what I can see on-line). Instead this has the "Look See A Monster" on the inside and while the mirror was in the wallet it is not stuck to that area (not sure if it ever was). I also found a 1965 Monsters of Filmland magazine this weekend that happened to have the advertising for the Wallets and the Vacuform pictures on the back cover. This reminded me that I had one of these wallets. Would love some additional information on the Wallet as I have only seen a version with a Magic Slate in the wallet when looking on line. Thanks

I believe the two variants of the wallet are about equally common.

Yes, the mirror was originally stuck to the area. What's the condition of the mirror? They have an unfortunate tendency to degrade and "silver" over the years.

There are plenty of discussions of these Standard Plastics monster wallets on this board including this one just a bit further down on this very same Vintage Monster Toys page:

I see an address on Barton Street East on one of the cards. Do you live in Hamilton?

I don't see the mirror as often, but that's probably just my experience.

You mean "de-silver". The silver flakes off the back.

He's not James Urso.

Granted, but he did peck in these two posts six years ago:

Thanks for all the information.  I stumbled on this piece at a flea market and took a chance as the price was right. I'm a vintage hot wheel collector, but I think I may have found my next outlet!!

Value is always a good thing.  I paid $10 for it at the market. There is one guy there who always has great stuff and you never know what will be there.  I just saw a Dracula / Mummy wallet sell in ebay (magic slate type, but missing the slate) for $415US. Gotta love the internet and people who don't care to use it. Thanks again for all of the information.

The wallet could therefore have originated locally. But local where? "Barton" I'm guessing is probably a common street name.

The Mirror has degraded somewhat and has a small chip on the back in one corner. Overall I would give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.  I do not live in Hamilton, but right next store in Burlington. The person I bought it from a number of years back was a Hamilton native though.
