Five years ago today, this wondrous weekend actually happened. Tonight I'm wondering
why we couldn't have had one every year since.
The weekend was all about mask maker Don Post who enthralled us for hours with tales about
the triumphs and trials of his famous Studios >

Sharing the spotlight with him was author Lee Lambert, launching the second edition of
his popular book The Illustrated History of Don Post Studios >

Ads for this convention promised surprises and there were many, from live monster guests to amazing exhibits >

Here are some of my DonCon-related souvenirs >

That calendar is absolutely awesome, with 1970s-era DP versions filling in for all the original 1966 characters.
The best part is you can actually hang it up and use it for part of next year >

'And how about that ANCIENT EVIL mask? It came to life at DonCon, right before our eyes!

Showman Daniel Roebuck tirelessly produced, promoted, and hosted the event. He must've gotten
his strength-training under Frankenstein himself!

As a lonely teenager collecting monster masks in the 1970s, you never would've convinced me
that such a convention as this could someday take place ... but it did and it was my pleasure
and privilege to attend.

Doh!

I was there, too! Great show. My swag (thanks to Gory Glenn for the Savage Eye Frank):

And the first Frankenstein mask ever produced, I believe. It was in amazing shape:

My friends! Fiends? Thank you so very much for your gracious memories of this event. We have accomplished so much since but not much of it monster related. We could not have done this without the tireless help of Sam Fong, Dante Rente, Lee Lambert, Joel Grossman Bobby Beeman, Trick or treat studios, My sainted wife, Tammy, all of the volunteers and special guests and DON Post and his wonderful family!
It was SPOOKTACULAR.
