I just don't know what to expect this year. Our annual Halloween Festival is canceled so families are going to
want to do SOMEthing else. My wife brought home a box of treats that were on sale so there's pressure from
one side; plus, our neighborhood rabble-rouser is trying to organize a caravan so there's more. I dunno ...

I just don't know what to expect this year. ...

It's sad to see the confused faces whenever the subject comes up.  Parents of younger kids who haven't figured out what to do - or what they CAN do.

They don't want to let the day pass unnoticed, but even the schools won't be offering "trunk or treat" this year.  The one thing that had been deemed safe for all.

Poor kids trying to decide on their costumes, but having no where to wear them and be seen.  No one to scare and no one to scare them.

Everyone will be skipping a beautiful, Saturday full Blue Moon on the 31st, that will shine for the whole world this year.  Wasted.

Even if things are semi normal next year, because of the stoopid Leap Year, Halloween will fall on a Monday and parents will still be cautious.

I hate this.

For localities that haven't forbidden trick-or-treating altogether, here are the CDC's Halloween Recommendations:

I'm making treat buckets for my nieces, nephews and kids of my close friends. I'm whipping up about 14 in total and doing deliveries in costume on Halloween day. I don't want them to be without in case their parents decide not to go out this year. As for standard trick or treating, I'm considering setting up a table at the end of my driveway for the kids that may be out and about. It'll likely be a game time decision, so we'll see.

I sure do. I'm surprised they haven't brought them back in recent years. Unless they did and I just didn't know.

Hep. I really do know the dimensions.  However. As I remember,  these buckets are really small. But big enough to hold a Happy Meal.

Personally I'm looking forward to the sales of unsold Halloween candy on November 1st. That's the silver lining to this cloud!

Apparently Halloween Candy sales are up dramatically this year even though candy ad spend is down 19%. Maybe people are worried it will be the next toilet paper...

So trick or treating in Toronto and area this year has now been cancelled by the authorities. I guess my Don Post mask will stay in hibernation for another year:

Even if they didn't make it "official", how many here want their kids to to be going house to house and bringing strangers' treats home?

I was figuring it was about 50/50 that this would happen, when I started this thread back in March.  Too bad for the kids that it fell on this side of the line.

One of the girls I babysit decided to pass up a chance to go to an advanced school and remain in homeschooling - they let her decide- because she is surrounded by grandparents.  And she REALLY wanted to go.

I finally did make it to 74.  (I wonder what the Vegas odds are for me making it to 75?)  I hope I get at least one more Halloween where giggling ghouls come to my door demanding chocolate.

We'll have to see what changes 2021 brings.

Congrats! (I won't say HB, in case it was 6 months ago.)
