Need Info On My Exorcist Cardboard Display
« on: March 31, 2020, 06:06:33 PM »
Hey Guys, While we've been stuck in the house cause of the Corona I decided to clean up my Exorcist cardboard display. I got it last year at an Garage sale and it looks like it got water damage as some point on the left side so I just now glued all the layers of the cardboard back together on the left side triangular cut outs. The Dimensions are 56.5" Tall x 3'2" Wide, I've spent Months and hours trying to find info on it but came up with nothing. As far as I can think is it was a lobby display but if anyone has info on this and how it was displayed I would appreciate it. The back has four thick cardboard holes to stand it but i don't know how it would work or what it would attach to. I know you guys will know what it is and i would love a lesson on it.

The pressbook mentions that a 40 x 60 standee was available, but doesn't have a picture.

It looks like you could thread a pole through those holes on the back to stiffen the standee.

Ok cool I'll have to look that up. I can't find another picture of it for sale or in someone elses collection. I also wonder what kind of base the pole would be attached to. Thanks for the info Mike Scott

Displays like this one are called Standees in movie promotion parlance. It looks like this one probably shipped with a sturdy cardboard roll (like the rolls in the middle of your paper towels, but much heavier--they were usually used for huge rolls of paper used to print newspapers and other printed materials). You could probably use a pole of PVC piping of a suitable diameter to slip through those rings and secure it to a base of some sort.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

Awesome! I think I can get my hands on a thick cardboard roll and probably put it in an old tree stand. At the same sale I also found this notice from The Exorcist II, I hope you guys enjoy  :D
