BBC Dracula props (medallion)
« on: March 02, 2020, 09:49:30 PM »
Hello;
New to the forum.  I've hit up other forums for this question, hoping to get some help!

The new BBC Dracula in the episode "Blood Vessel" shows a different variation of the medallion and ring worn by the Count....I found it curious I can't find anyone really even asking about it;  does anyone know that back story or have any really good images of either?   Any help is appreciated!   I've seen the reproduction of the Lugosi medallion, but have seen *nothing* on the new TV Show prop.   Thanks in advance!

Welcome to The UMA, Repairman Jack. I haven't seen the BBC show but now you've got me curious as to how different
the new medallion and ring designs are from the classical versions ...

So I stumbled onto this link, which the production designer posted on instagram;  here is a clear up close pic of the ring.  The medallion obviously has the same design in the center, but I don't have instagram so I can't see if the guy posted pics of the medallion:

So how would you describe that creature in the center? I've looked long and hard at it, trying to detect some sense of menace,
but all I can see is a curled up dragon with cartoon feet. Then again, I haven't seen the show and may be reading it wrong ...

My opinion, it's artistic license with the "Order of the Dragon" Vlad was supposed to have been a part of.   The guy also posted this pic of the side of Drac's carriage too, it's a little clearer:

This show is currently streaming on Netflix with 3 epiosdes at 1.5 hours each. It is very different take on the Dracula legend.  It was entertaining IMO.
