More Schools "Moving Away" From Halloween:

What? "Trunk-or-Treat" wasn't a crappy enough alternative to actual traditional Halloween activities?

I'll bet they won't worry about the Jews and Muslims when it comes to their Christmas decorations and programs.

I despise religion. It ruins everything. The phony "war on christmas", the abolition of Halloween, the crappy traditions. Can't stand Halloween being renamed "harvest festival". I'm renaming christmas "winter clebration". Happy Festivus. Get your poles ready and prepare your "Airing of Grievances". I can think of a few right now.

Quote from: Yahoo Lifestyle
Halloween festivities may alienate and exclude students and staffers who may not celebrate for various personal or religious reasons (as the holiday, with both its pagan roots and connection to All Saints’ Day, is seen as too Satanic for some Christians and too Christian for some Muslims and Orthodox Jews).

But others are moving away from the festivities in order to promote inclusivity.

Bloody hell! Political correctness run amuck once again. I loathe and despise all this present day talk of "inclusivity".

If you're bound and determined to be offended by Halloween for religious or other frivolous reasons, fine. Go ahead. But don't expect the rest of us to lend you a sympathetic ear let alone lean over backward to accommodate your harebrained sensibilities.

My father and mother brought us up in church. But not fanatically. There was no "Carrie White" garbage.  My faith has served me well. I have helped many others with it. Growing up, we were allowed to trick or treat, we were allowed to have imaginations. We were allowed to be kids. It's not about faith or beliefs...it's about high handed lunacy, pc garbage run amok, and people with nothing to do but suck the fun out of everything in life by pointing out how bad it is to be ....anything... other than what they tell you that you must be. It's a war on America....and we have useful idiots helping whoever the puppet masters are in destroying the country from within with some of this crap.

Very well-stated, Anton. I was raised by similar standards. My parents were religious, but not tyrannical. We were allowed to express ourselves and enjoy the same activities as everyone else. Halloween was always a fun time for us. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. The sad thing is that the people trying to erase Halloween, probably enjoyed it as children. It's sheer hypocrisy and over reaction. Btw, my comments weren't aimed at genuine people like you (but, I think you understand that).

I remember one year dressed as the devil. I wasn't a satan worshiper. I just thought the costume was cool. My mother didn't object. She knew it was just for fun. I think the problem today is that some people are miserable, and want to drag down everyone with them. My response would be: F**k you, go jump off a building and leave us happy people alone.

Well, while I don't condone suicide, or telling people to go do obscene things to themselves (lol), I do agree that the problem is people are grossly miserable, hate life, don't believe in the existence of anything higher than themselves, and do indeed wish to drag everyone down with them.  You nailed it. Some of the very voices crying "haters" at others...are actually quite hateful.

Trick-or-Treaters dressed as Satan or any non-specific evil spirit are no more worshipers of the head of some underworld royalty than a kid wrapped in a sheet is really dead.

At the same time, I cringe to see any innocent child wearing a red baseball cap that doesn't have an MLB logo printed on it.

Shudder...

As a general rule I avoid talking politics on the site, but this unfortunate story pushed my buttons. IMO this a general trend demonstrated by all sides of the ideological spectrum. The power elite (see C. Wright Mills) foreclose on challenges to the Washington consensus on issues like economic injustice, mass incarceration, ecological devastation, and wars for profit. So what are people left with? How do they blow off political steam so to speak? By demonstrating outrage over non-issues. "I'm pissed off, can't do anything about it---politically,  so I'll turn on my fellow citizens and harass them---ruin their fun."

Just my two cents. Not trying to proselytize, just analysis from an egghead.  Returning to my no-politics rule. :)

Red baseball caps? I had to look up the reference:

Quote from: Babylonbee
NEW YORK, NY—Major League Baseball has banned all red baseball caps as "symbols of hate."

The league wanted to ensure that no one will feel uncomfortable, should they mistake the red hats of teams like the Angels, the Reds, the Cardinals, and many others for a MAGA hat.

"Effective immediately, there's a $10,000 fine per player who wears a red cap during a game or in public," said MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. "We want every Major League Baseball game to feature a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, and we can't do that when people are being triggered by these red caps."

Any red shirt with a slogan on it is also banned, as people from hundreds of yards away might see them and think they are a Trump supporter, causing the viewer to fall on the ground and convulse and then maybe even die.

"We welcome everyone," said Manfred. "So anything that looks like a MAGA hat is not welcome."

Teams formerly wearing red ball caps are encouraged to instead wear inclusive headgear like rainbow-colored hijabs, blue Coexist cabby hats, or mullets with a heart shaved into them.

I think I prefer the red caps to the last three articles of headgear mentioned above.

As a rule though my preference is fedoras. Baseball caps should only be worn by baseball players and farmers, and by the latter category only if they're emblazoned with the Shur-Gain or International Harvester logos.

The power elite ... foreclose on challenges to the Washington consensus....

Administrations come and go, but they always seem to leave ever bigger Government in their place simply because the Deep State is so firmly entrenched and always makes sure to look after its own interests first. Frightening.
