So, I shouldn't have turned mine into a soap dispenser/toothbrush holder???  :D

Cool! How did you do the hands? Heat 'em up and bend them?

Yep; I dip them in (nearly) boiling water for about a minute, then use painters tape to set them in position.

You know, I read that last comment first and thought I had stumbled into the COVID topic with tips on staying safe...

While searching for something else, I ran across what may be the very first Distortions Unlimited catalog >

It's an oversized flier, meant to be folded up and mailed, with space for an address label on the reverse side.
It's also the only catalog from which I can proudly claim to have owned copies of every single mask pictured.
The first two I ordered were Mutation I and Were Jaguar. Both arrived in March 1980 and so began my
indulgence as a Distortions collector >

No sooner had that first pair arrived, it was time to order the next two on my Distortions want list. Time Traveler and Human Error both reached me before month's end >

Distortions Unlimited produce some stellar masks.
Their YouTube channel is fun and interesting to watch.

I never photographed my "Neutron Alien" but have good coverage of the Andromida mask I scored later that Spring >

For a look at the remaining mask on our early Distortions flier, we'll have to flip it over and see what nightmare awaits on the other side>

By April 1980 it was still early enough in the limited edition to reserve copy #13, the only appropriate number for such an unlucky character.
That document beneath it is the original certificate of ownership >

Mario Chiodo Signature Series "Muscle Guard"

Thank goodness it's only a rubber mask. An army of those could take over the world! 'Great review, j2.
Mr Chiodo designed some fantastic characters for Illusive Concepts and Mask Illusions before that. Some of
the stuff in early Great CoverUp catalogs looks like his work too. Someday, their stories must be told.

In 1978 I had a first edition Sargoth the Cobra mask by Don Post Studios >

Retail price was only $29.50 back then which makes me wonder how much they're worth now,
considering how few have survived to this day.

There I am, wearing it at a convention in the late '70s. I entered their costume contest as "Sir Sargoth" >

These pics of someone else's offer views of the mask from different angles >

Sometime in the '80s I had my Sargoth repainted. No snake-charmer could've made him (or me) happier >

I have always loved Sargoth, but sadly have never owned one. Great pics!
