House Of the Wolf Man(2009)
« on: October 15, 2018, 05:25:28 PM »
A pretty nice tribute to the Universal monsters of old, starring Ron Chaney(grandson of Lon Chaney, Jr.)..pretty straightforward plot: a Dr.Reinhart summons several strangers to hiss castle in order to see which of them will inherit the family secrets. Well, Reinhart is really a Frankenstein and the strangers are all his children, he also has another secret: he is a werewolf!

There is also the Monster himself, lurking in the basement and when things get even more creepy: enter Count Dracula. Featuring a real knockdown drag-out battle between the Monster and Wolf Man. If you havent seen this one, it's worth checking out for the Halloween season.  :D

I bought it, when it came out. A fun tribute to 1940's Universal horror.

Never saw it. Heard some bad things about it and haven't bothered to seek it out since.

House of the Wolf Man has been OOP for several years now. Director Eben McGarr recently premiered Hanukkah in December, starring Sid Haig, Charles Fleischer, and the late Dick Miller. Speaking to McGarr at Mad Monster Party 2019 in Charlotte, NC, this past weekend, he said there is an effort to get HOTWM back into distribution at long last, but they are only in the preliminary stages.

I was lucky enough to track this down and get it on the FYE/Second Spin website. It goes for about $80 everywhere else, and i got it for about $20 after discounts. Can't wait to watch it!

Spoke to Eben McGarr this past Friday, and they are still working on getting HOTWM back into circulation, at the same time as they seek distribution for Hanukkah, Sid Haig and Dick Miller's final film.
