My one month checkup on Monday showed no weaknesses, no "breaks", in the retina of either eye. Yay!

Now I can schedule cataract surgery on my right eye. Hopefully that eye's retina holds up.

I don't understand why we don't get more traffic here.

I know a lot of people are stuck home with little to do - at least, compared to when they were working full time.  So, I repeat...

Shell-shocked and too depressed/resigned to post I suspect.

This place still gets more action then The HMA did before it went under. Don't think we are in any trouble if we can get more people to join. I always see loads of folks lurking on the site so we need them to join and start to post.

I came to this site kind of late, and I wish it was more active. Part of the problem, though is that there just aren't that many "good" threads that can spark discussion. Announcements of upcoming figures or movies are fine, but they don't encourage any kind of meaningful discussion.

I think we need to brainstorm a little harder for topic ideas, things that people can take an opinion on. There's currently a thread in The Modern Monster Toys forum entitled "What Monster Toy Hasn't Been Made That You Want to Own Before You Die?"

http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?topic=34629.0

The thread encouraged thought and brainstorming, giving everyone the chance to contribute their own ideas to a conversation, and it's got four pages of responses. We need to come up with more "discussion threads" to stimulate conversation. Maybe we should all make a vow that every time we visit this site, we pledge to start one thread and make a meaningful contribution to two others. No one wants to sign up and participate in a forum that's had three posts in the last week.

I think Hep is on to something here. I think there is a lot of anxiety and depression out there, and it's not just about the threat of contracting a mean-ass virus. There is a lot of economic insecurity and possible dislocation as result of this health crisis. My wife is kind of a big shot administrator, at a hospital no less, and she was just furloughed. I have a full-time faculty position, but I don't have the same type of job security senior faculty do. So I'm nervous about what my status will be in the Fall. I'm fairly confident, but not 100% certain. And others have it way worse than we do. So I would not be surprised if some UMA members just don't feel up to posting right now.

I still like to check the forum and post because it provides a reprieve from the anxiety and depressing news. But everyone is different.

I just returned to the forum after a little absence.  I was using FB more, but got tired of all the negativity and crap.  I found my way back to the UMA mainly because of the community.  Hopefully we call all build it back up.

I'm finding that I'm getting sucked into weird little time vortexes where I get wrapped up in stuff and more time flies by than I thought. I haven't been checking news sites for monster stuff which translates into posting here. Also, it seems that I was tied to the computer and phone more while working from home and once I was off the clock I treated them like they were radioactive. Working from home has really thrown me off my balance and now that I'm back in the office it's like I'm having to relearn my routine. I'm hoping to be on here more as part of that.
