WHERE IS EVERYBODY?

So I'm temporarily (hopefully) indisposed due to a retinal detachment. An air bubble injected into my eye yesterday evening requires my holding my head at a certain angle for I know not how long. This has dramatically curtailed activities on my part. Spot laser surgery later today.

Well they say my retina has been re-attached and looks fine after two laser sessions. But!!! They still want to do more laser work on Monday which I now absolutely dread because it's so unnatural to hold still and not flinch as the brightest bolts of lightning flare in your eye. It's been taking a supreme effort of will on my part.

Then there was the detail that laser eye surgery may also result in tears/abrasions on one's cornea. Not that they told me about that. When the freezing wore off on Wednesday evening and it felt like something bad was in my eye, I of course feared the worst and at midnight decided I needed to go to Emergency despite the fact that the thought of any more bright lights in my eye made me weep. Then the doctor in emerg told me that there's a big old tear in my cornea! "Old?!" I said.

"Well it's big anyway" he replied. At least they gave me some Tylenol 3 when we asked....

They say my cornea is healing nicely and it no longer much bothers me. The air bubbles are supposed to go away by themselves as well but in the meantime they're bizarre/unsettling.

Sounds like you're making progress. Remember...cats have 9 lives (that extends to the eyes).

I'm glad to hear that you're "on the mend", but the mending part doesn't sound like much fun either. I hope you get better quickly.

So I reported for a final laser touch-up today, and after looking my eye over thoroughly the doctor announced that things looked just fine and no more laser zapping was needed! A great piece of news. Final check-up with the head of the ophthalmology clinic on Thursday.

The less "laser zapping" (especially to the eyes) the better, I always say! Glad to hear the good news!

Glad you're feeling better! God, I dread any sort of eye surgery. Nothing is more irritating than, well, eye irritation that you can't rub or alleviate. I HATE it if my eyes ever get irritated. Worst feeling in the world. Can't imagine how much less enjoyable the agony of laser surgery is!

As far as Facebook, I refuse to use it. It's spyware. It went online the day the CIA's Lifelog site went offline. Just a new name, same old BS. This place feels more like a fun home (or perhaps haunted house is a better description!).

I really do need to post more often. I always make it here for Halloween, but overall I've been so busy throughout the year it's easy to lose track of every place I want to contribute to.
