Apparently MEGO is going off the deep end trying to convince people these are not the final products, even allegedly indicating such in a press release.  This is all secondhand info I'm just passing along.

I hope they are right, because a 14" Lugosi that looked like the 8" would be killer.  I don't care about Frankenstein as he pertains to this line.

Everyone knows I don't exactly love the Kenner Monsters that debuted in 1997. Sideshow came along and really made those pale in comparison. I do believe those figures from over 2 decades ago are better than a lot of toys being made for sale today by not only Mego....but others as well.

I initially resisted commenting on this very well-stated post. I'm always (accurately) perceived as Sideshow's biggest cheerleader, and didn't want to stoke that fire. That said, Anton is so right. Sideshow started up with near exclusivity to the Universal Monsters. Their products were unbelievably good. Those 8", 12", and quarter scale figures were the very best official Uni monsters ever. SS had a very talented, dedicated crew that were actual fans of the films. I'm pretty sure we will never see anything like that again, but NECA, DST, and Monsterville have given us glimpses of hope. Hopefully, the success of the Funko Minis, Reaction figures, and others will inspire someone to do a serious, quality line.

In my opinion the sculpts need to be basically a caricature of the personality slight exaggerations of their features. The Lugosi 14" lacks this and looks generic. Putting a dimple in the chin doesn't cut it. I felt like the 8" achieved this.

It would be awesome if NECA would get the Universal Monsters license and do "Ultimate" versions of the Unis. With the movie poster being the box flap. Probably never happen, but if it did....it would be the best thing to happen to our beloved monsters since Sideshow.

I would probably have a massive heart attack, if that ever happened.

They really ought to.  I mean there have got to be more people into the monsters than Jason.  Broader audience appeal, right?

One thing that drives me nuts about Lugosi Jr and his licensing deals is that with the exception of the sideshow stuff and the mobeus model kits- nothing this guy grants the license to bears any resemblance to his father. I don’t even know why these companies bother paying to attain the likeness if they’re not going to full capitalize on it. I know everyone seems to love the new Mego 8” Dracula’s, but I actually think the unlicensed diamond/emcee figure from a few years back bares more of a resemblance to Lugosi than the licensed Mego ones.

In that case, you'll LOVE the new Mego Dracula 14".

They should have marketed these as Dreadful Dracula because it's awful.  The 8" figure was beautiful.
I've not liked any of their Frankenstein's.

Not sure if these are considered "Wave 7," but Wave 7 has been delayed due to licensor issues.

Isn't that new Phantom considered part of wave 7 ? The 14"ers could be delayed indefinitely , as far as most of us are concerned.

Yes, so he is all good.  I'd like the 14"ers delayed until they fix the sculpts.
