Telco Mummy Motionette
« on: April 21, 2019, 01:37:50 PM »
Hello everyone!

I know it's a loooong shot; but does anyone have a boxed Telco Mummy Motionette for sale or trade? Looking for the 17" battery version. Thanks in advance!

Good luck! When those were released I was on a road trip with my family (I was a kid) and I made my parents stop at every Walmart over a three state stretch and I finally found one (and a Bride).  Still have it, in the box (box isn't mint but not bad at all), but I don't sell anything monster related.  Ever. It would make my kid sad.

I don't blame you! I was seven years old when these were released in 1992 and searched high and low for a Mummy. Never found one. I found Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman, though. Still have Dracula in the box. So for the past  twenty-seven years; I've been searching for a working Mummy in a good box! I could have found a real mummy by now!  :P My search is sometimes dedicated and sometimes casual; but always there in the back of my mind! At any rate, I appreciate the good luck anyway, lol.

Don't you want a Creature?

Indeed I do want a Creature! After I find my Grail Mummy; of course!  ;D it's just how I collect. I lose enthusiasm and passion if I collect a line/series but my favorite piece is missing. It's easier for me to get the crown jewel first/soonest; which maximizes my inspiration to collect others.

My search is sometimes dedicated and sometimes casual; but always there in the back of my mind!

I know this well. I did the exact thing with those Remco Mini Monsters on the card. Finally I had an unusually long period of dedication and bit the bullet and finished a set (I actually got the last one in the mail this past Saturday).

Yeah, on those Telco monsters I had Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein and Creature and I could not find the mummy or Bride anywhere. I started to wonder if they really made them. I searched for months (of course I was a wee lad and had to rely on tagging along with my mom to stores). When I finally found the mummy and bride (in the same store somewhere in Michigan I believe) I darn near lost my mind right there in the aisle. It didn’t seem real. If they were that hard to find then near 30 years later it’s got to be quite a quest.

I think they’re among the greatest monster items to come out, maybe ever.

Firstly, congrats on your Remco set! I had Dracula as a kid; I loved that figure! As for the Telco Mummy; you couldn't have described it any better. It is indeed quite the quest! Well, beginning to feel more like a Mummy's curse if I'm being honest, lol. I am fully prepared to bite the bullet on it (well, about $500 worth of bullet) but there is simply no bullet to be bitten right now. It's incredibly frustrating. I've been a collector of various things pretty much my entire life and have never had trouble locating a single item like I have a blasted Telco Mummy. I have a statue based on a Dark Souls video game character. They made perhaps as few as 30 of these statues. Never available at retail. Finding that thing was a cakewalk compared to a Telco Mummy.

Are they getting that much for the 17" Mummy? I know it's kinda hard to tell, since you never see them for sale.

I have no idea what the actual value is; as pricing seems to be very sporadic; all over the place. After some research; I saw a loose, untested one sell with a Buy It Now price of $35. But I also saw a boxed one sell at auction for like $402. I have no clue what the legit value/worth truly is. All I know is what I'm able/willing to pay.

I have the Mummy head shaker that was released the first or second year; but the head sculpt for the actual figure is MUCH brtter.
