Not sure how long it will be available, but the first full episode is on YouTube:

Frankly, I was NOT impressed. It ran a full hour but there was really only enough material there to justify 30 minutes. (The original series had that same problem with its 60-minute episodes.) Also, I wasn't a fan of the F-bombs. I think they really should've made it safe for (most) ages, just like the original. I'm no prude, but given the show's legacy, I think they really missed an opportunity of bringing in younger fans.

Psssttt....Rod Serling IS The Twilight Zone. Without Rod Serling, there is no TZ.

The 80s version had some really good segments so I think it can be done. But yeah, it's much harder with no Serling at the helm.

That was kind of weak for the premier episode.

I'll vote on the underwhelmed side.  Perhaps I'm suffering from Too High Expectations but I thought I dialed those back to fairly low - I've been watching the last attempts at the regurgitated TZ, and a few lackluster Night Gallery episodes.

The idea of paying for "CBS All Access" takes a hit with this as a first-effort.  My complaint about the older regurgitated version of TZ remains for this newest one: "Why can Rod accomplish a fantastic 24-minute tale and these hour-long's can't manage something close?"

Now, they've achieved dropping my lowered expectations much further, and made my arguments against paying for lackluster TV even stronger.   I'm not sure what these producers have been doing since hatching the New TZ Idea.  Maybe they have many other episodes in the can, played 52-card-pickup and just accidentally posted this weak one... is that how TV producers work?  "Let's start off with a lame episode and see if we can trick fans until we uncork the ninth or tenth one?"  That'd be fine for ensemble cast-series.  TZ isn't aiming for that, though.

What are they waiting for?

Sounds like a (stupid) plan!

Totally agree. I was watching it with my Brother and after awhile I said to him it seems to be dragging. We then started discussing the Original and how they were more concise and to the point. But I also mentioned that Serling hated going to a 60 minute run time for this same reason.
Sure enough after checking the time on the PVR, it was just over a half and hour in on the new TZ.

Overall I liked these new episodes but they will never stand up to the Original series and I think they should really look into 1/2n hour episodes.
