I can't figure out why the sculpts on the Universal figures are so lacking. Obviously judging by some of Super7's other Reaction figures like POTA, Teen Wolf, etc. they are clearly capable of realistic sculpts at that scale.

The sculpts on the latest Universal monsters from Super 7 look more exaggerated, generic, and even cartoony than the ones we had from Funko. I presume that's the look they are going for. That makes them look more like toys rather than collectibles. At first, I was a bit put off by that, but now I've grown to kind of like it (except for the Bride's manly face - not a fan of that at all!).

I'm sure there's a fan base for these, I just don't know why.

They are "subject to Licensor approval", Universal has to give the OK before they are released.

That makes even less sense, since the likenesses on the cardbacks are perfect.  So they'll approve packaging that looks like Karloff, but not the figure inside?

Universal drives me absolutely nuts.  These companies should just show the Universal brass whatever they want to make them happy and then go release a different, BETTER sculpt. I'm sure the idiots wouldn't know the difference, but the fans would.

Kind of like when the studio told Alfred Hitchcock to make edits to Psycho. He ignored them, just said he did it, and they signed off on it. LOL

I only buy these for the card art. If I ever have grandchildren, I will probably give them to them.

I have to admit I do like the Misfits, POTA, Iron Maiden and They Live figures.

I meant the Universal stuff. They get more and more generic. The others aren't bad. Its just that we already have so many bland Uni monster figures, as it is. At least make them as good as the original Remcos.

Me too!  The Apes are amazing...if we got monsters that good I'd flip. But, like Anton I buy them mostly for the card art. In package they look stunning. Out of...not so much.  Of the first series the Mutant, Red Death and Mole Man are the best IMO.

I agree, Mord. Very generic.

I am kind of excited for the suggestion a wave 3 might get produced. They said they are of monsters never produced in the scale before. Personally, I would love to see

Werewolf of London
Kharis Mummy (Chaney)
Ape Woman
Quasimodo
Dracula's Daughter
Mad Ghoul

My guess is that a Creature Walks will be one of any 3rd series.
