« on: February 15, 2019, 06:30:52 PM »
A Universal Monsters Board Game called "Horrified" is coming out this August. Looks pretty cool, based on the limited information provided. Details here: https://io9.gizmodo.com/horrified-board-game-brings-all-the-classic-universal-m-1832534827

I'm okay with it.  They look like Monster Squad monsters.  Definitely better than the stock art!  I'd like to own this.

Because of the art?

Yep.

Makes me wonder what the  “high-quality sculpted miniatures” of Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon" will look like.

Anyone seen pictures of those?

I haven't. I think the game was just announced not too long ago, so there's not a ton of information out about it.

I'd have to see the game pieces first. If they're generic, not for me.

If the box art is generic, the figures will probably look even worse. Look at their version of the Frankenstein monster (on the box). It looks more like Rami Malek.

I wish Monsterville had continued beyond Halloween with stuff like this.

I wonder why they stopped making Universal items?  The product they had at Target was popular and seemed to sell pretty well.

Yeah, those and the Mego Dracula and Nosferatu were the last reasonably priced monster collectibles. I guess you have to choose between crap and exorbitant "statues".

This video:
has a look at the game so far. Jump to the 1:13 mark (it also has some details on a Jaws game immediately after they show the Universal Monsters game, in case you are interested in that too). Looks fun to me. I'll probably grab this when it's released, as I play quite a few board games with friends, and this will be perfect for the fall/Halloween season.
