Mego Target wave Question
« on: December 13, 2018, 03:22:39 PM »
Hi all
Does anyone know when or who the next monster is gonna be after Wolfman in the Target Mego line? Or is wolfman it?

Thanks!

Since they are the most sought after things in the line, I wouldn't be surprised if they made more Monsters. It was set up as one per wave, and we have them all now. I doubt there will be more waves like that again.

Mego reps have stated there is a monster in wave 4, and that that wave is currently on the waves on its way from the Orient, but they've kept mum on what character to expect in the likely January - February release. They've also spoken of releasing monsters in the 14 inch format, but have given no definitive word on that.

Just got back from one of the few Targets that actually stocks these. There were a couple of Frankensteins, and the usual suspects (Tootie, Richie,  Cliff, Samantha, etc). They occupied all of three pegs. Most were tossed on the shelf. It doesn't really look like they're selling at all...even at Christmas.  That's gotta be a bad sign.

That's gotta be a bad sign.

Target committed to two more waves months ago, and it's not returnable product. Target is a large enough corporation to absorb any financial hit related to this merch and Mego a small and nimble enough company with seasoned professionals running it... what's the downside?

It was really good that MEGO got a distributor like Target.  Even if they just got the initial waves without future orders, they would have been well on their way to establishing themselves in the 21st century.  Selling directly to the consumer is where the industry seems headed, and I think MEGO would do well with that.  Target may help to expand the target consumer base for sure, but I don't think MEGO needs Target anymore.  It's great that they have them, though.

As far as future waves of monsters...  Yes, please.  I haven't found the Screaming Werewolf yet, and I'm not really searching, but I'd like to see more MEGO monsters, hopefully more akin to the Lugosi, though I tend to think that sculpt was developed by EMCE and not MEGO, which would explain a few things.  Nonetheless, I wish they would dive into 12" characters, at least for the Monsters, which they could easily do without mucking up other licensing agreements, but I'd take 14 inchers if I had to.

EMCE is developing the MEGO figures as I understand it.

Interesting.  All of the licenses?
