The vintage photo seems to suggest that Universal provided movie-mold masks to theater owners for promotional purposes. Where oh where are they now?
That other image is suggestive, too. Of what exactly, I'm afraid to ask.

There were no DP masks, at that time, so yes, they must have! I'm sure they were only provided to the largest markets.
