"The Walking Dead" Season 9 (10) (11)
« on: October 23, 2018, 12:00:17 AM »
Only 2 more episodes for Rick Grimes! How will he get it? Just another zombie victim? Assassination? Stupid accident?

Who will that leave from season 1? Just Daryl and Carol?

Has Rick died in the comics?

I've been underwhelmed by TWD and Fear lately, but I actually thought last Sunday's episode was pretty good. I'm reading online rumors that say Maggie is not getting killed off, just leaving Hilltop. I also read rumor that Rick will be bitten during face-off with horde.

I was kind of hoping for something different for Rick, but I don't know what it would be.

To answer my own question, apparently both Rick and Carl are still alive in the funny books.

They'll probably do some hokey thing like have Maggie shoot Negan and Rick gets between and takes the bullet. Then, as Rick dies Maggie and Negan will get all sappy and dedicate themselves to working to make Rick's Utopian vision a reality. If they go that route or something similar I'll be hard pressed to stay with the show. Maggie's original instinct was the correct one: Negan should've been put to death. And all of Negan's upper eschelon (they killed one of them during last Sunday's episode and they were right to do so). And the duplicitous Gregory certainly got what he had coming to him. What Rick fails to understand is that you can't have peace/Utopia until the tyrant and all his henchmen have been put down. Rick also fails to understand that they are living in a feudal society. There can't be peace until all the hostile elements have been eliminated. And many hostile elements remain in the world of TWD.

Rick is going to get caught by some very disgruntled Saved Saviors, and they'll shoot him and leave him to turn.   Yawn.  Negan takes over.

That's what I have heard. Then in the next episode Maggie is leaving the show.

I knew it! Stupid accident! At least, that's how it starts. Have to wait till Sun. to see how it all plays out.

WD continues to be a continual lesson that "Kill the bad guys, right off."  The James Bond films offer this lesson, too.  Stop toying with him - just shoot him, Goldfinger.  Bam.  All done - the world is now yours!

Michonne coulda killed Duh Guv... so could any of the so-called marksmen/hunters/police-trained shooters standing behind protected prison walls.   Sword to Herschel's throat - just shoot the Guv's head.  Use that eyepatch as an aiming point.  Stop dilly-dallying.

I haven't watched this show much beyond end-of-Glenn, and when it's on marathon re-runs, I am always struck that I only care to watch the first 3 episodes and that final TS-19 "CDC Blows Up" episode.

The soap operas overwhelm everything else.  I just can't believe they haven't used Noise Makers forever 'n ever to draw the herds around like TV Dance-off Shows.  Or more like Crikey! Aussie gator rasslers.

Well! How about that! Did not see that one coming!

(Trying not to spoil, for those who haven't seen the episode, yet.)

Loved the cameos!

SPOILERS***Don't read if you haven't watched yet.

Ok, I have mixed feelings. I think that was cowardly of the writers, yet at same time, because I like the character, I admit I was happy to see RG survive.  Even when the show was uneven I used to say "I've stuck with show this long, I'm going to ride it out. Plus I love seeing people shoot zombies in the head regardless."

Well, now I'm rethinking that position. I think I'm going to pull the plug. But not because of the RG story. I think I'm tapping out because of the time jump on the horizon. Rick is off the show now. So is Carl, Glenn, Sasha, Abraham, Maggie, Tyreece, and Beth. So at this point I don't care what Neegan, Gabriel, Eugene, Rosita, Jesus, and Judith are doing six years from now. Those characters don't do it for me. Well Rosita does, but in a different way ;)

I know Daryl, Carol, and Michonne are still around, but I'm not sure if that's enough. Now if we were going to see how the communities deal with aftermath of Rick's departure, then I'd probably stick around, but the time jump is just something I'm not interested in following. And to be honest, this means I'll probably pull plug on Fear too. Both shows are going with almost a total reboot, and so for me it feels like time to check out. Too many other fun horror, sci-fi, and superhero shows out there.

Just my two cents.

I wonder what others think.

Got rid of TV...again, so The Walking Dead is on hiatus for me until such time as the series ends and the whole thing can be had relatively inexpensively on one big set of discs. I don't mind waiting a few years. I was getting burned out on TWD anyway, especially with the constant marathons by AMC. I still love the show, and I'm looking forward to a huge binge at some point when it will all be relatively fresh and fun instead of the grind it was becoming.

Heads up! I don't want to spoil last Sun. show, but what and ending!  :)  I knew "he" was on a secret mission, but I didn't know somebody else was in on it. I was bummed they didn't have the after show. (Virus) I wanted to hear the reactions.  :(  They could have done it without an audience.

Anybody still watching these shows? If you haven't had enough, there's a 3rd one coming up!

I'm still watching but it's tough; this season as been filled with characters doing some of the most bone headed stuff.
