Barnes & Noble Leatherbound PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
« on: August 24, 2018, 08:01:53 PM »
I just learned today that Barnes & Noble has recently published a new leatherbound edition of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (and Other Gothic Tales). Here's a picture from their website:

This is part of their leatherbound Collectible Editions series, which are beautiful, well-made volumes at a very affordable price. They have a good selection of horror-themed volumes, including DRACULA & Other Novels by Bram Stoker, Pennydreadfuls (which includes FRANKENSTEIN?), two volumes of H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, a volume of Horror Stories and one of Ghost Stories, Stephen King (Salem's Lot, Carrie & The Shining in one volume), and several of Anne Rice's vampire novels in a single volume.

Right now they are having a sale where if you buy one volume in this series, you can get a second one at half price ... and shipping is free. Such a deal!

I ordered a copy of PHANTOM right away.

The only other specific story named in the description is Horace Walpole's Castle of Otranto, but a picture showing the back cover lists some of the authors included.

The cover looks incredible, judging by the photo.
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Finally received my copy of this book today, and it is a beauty!

What are a couple of the other stories?

I took a picture of the table of contents. Looks like there are some excellent tales here.

I've read several of these stories in other anthologies and most are just good old fashioned ghost stories. 8)

I actually read "Phantom..." A few years back. It's a good read with loads of things that weren't in the movies. Those B & N editions are very nicely done. I'm glad someone still stocks books and records. I like cds, but am not a fan of streaming. That's just plain lazy.
