I am rebuilding my collection...again (time 3)  :o

I picked up this great DP Calendar Glenn Strange Frankenstein, and when he arrived he is suffering from mask rust. Is there a safe way to clean this from the mask?

From what I hear on this issue, re-paint is required as its the actual paint changing color....not a build up on the paint.
