Nope. This is a hobby....not a business. The garage kit hobby is literally kept alive by a small handful of sculptors and producers. From what I understand, the sales of said kits basically have all these fellas making precious little bank, usually used to pay for the next sculpt and materials. Sculptors are the only ones who actually get any real cash, and even then.....sometimes that isn't even true. So, when someone else makes an inferior copy: then passes it off as an actual cast (rather than the pit hole filled, smaller, less detailed, and generally crappy recast it is), no one wins but the re-caster. Even the customer gets hosed because one day he sees the original version of the kit and realizes his is smaller, covered in pits, has less detail, and the deal he or she thought they were getting was not existent. They were actually being taken advantage of. Meanwhile, actual kit sales perform sub-par, and the cycle of being able to have new kits sculpted is interrupted or ceased, and said "company" (a guy in his garage) simply declare the venture not worth their time and quit. As multiple kit makers have done. Re-casting is bottom feeding and destroys the hobby in the long run for a quick buck. The end.
Dan Fuller/dirtyhorse is a well-known recaster. He's on facebook and has been booted from pretty much every model board. He has ripped off friends of mine, yes there's evidence. What he does now is posts in general monster collecting forums, offering easy-to-recast magnets and stuff. Newbies don't know any better, and they buy.He also is known for getting painting commissions, then taking the kit that was sent to him and recasting it. He paints a recast, sends THAT ONE to the unknowing customer, and keeps the original for himself. He joins facebook groups, and once in, he blocks the mods and admins so that they don't even know he's posting. This was all pointed out a while ago here on this board, and the powers that be took no action, even though they knew what he was doing.
Is there actually any evidence of Dan recasting?, I noticed that the UMA was mentioned but not in a positive light.
Not trying to stir the pot with recasting and not...but...I find it a tad hypocritical if one is selling unlicensed Unimonsters and complaining.....just my two cents...not condoning recasting at all..just sayin'. I get that it is "stealing" by recasting but isn't it "stealing" if one is selling Universal Monsters without paying royalties?

They pay for some good sculpts to be sure....but the casting sometimes can be a tad rough. if not downright ghastly. I don't like messing with seam lines, air bubbles, pinholes and stuff. I really just wanna wash it and paint it when I get a kit. That's why I do not buy many. Too much prep. If I am not mistaken they did the Vincent Price Shrunken Apple Head tribute. I bought one after seeing the finished example with the metal nameplate. The actual kit....does not come with a metal nameplate, lol. It had some EXTREMELY rough spots too....but I did a work around. PROMO PIC THAT INSPIRED ME TO GET ONE:Wow! I had the apple sculpture set! Is this model still available?RAW:MINE:
