I'll be content with my original DVD with both movies on it. There is just something about our old faves that mtakes away from the whole look and feel of the film if it is cleaned up too much.

I love "The Night Strangler",but Underground Seattle looks nothing like what is shown. The real underground  is where they decided to level off the streets. Thus you will find old sidewalks and storefronts, sometimes up to three stories under the present day Seattle, but the streets themselves were  leveled off.

Wicked, I'm going to follow the advice from the Dept of White Album Repurchasing Dept: "Wait for the 32k version - it's going to be even better."

I have the 2000 era dvds.

I talked to someone who worked on IMAX digital processing and he said a lot of old low budget  movies cannot go much beyond 2k for quality because after a certain level the grain will dominate over the sharpness.
Night Stalker was shot on 35mm so maybe it has a little more oomph but consider something like SHOCK WAVES which was shot in 16mm I believe--I have the Blue Underground and it looks good but man is it grainy.

The Moxey interview intrigues me--it's too bad Dan Curtis didnt record an audio commentary. His enthusiasm is evident in the featurette--and the lack of enthusiasm that tv executives in the 2000 era had for that type of programming comes up in his remarks.

John Carradine: "As for this eternal youth garbage-frankly I hate it."

Kolchak: "Well I can see why."
