I don't care what anyone says, I STILL think this is a good idea.

Maybe we could promote it as a way to keep kids sharp at school.  No longer would they be tired and inattentive the day immediately following staying up later than usual.

(It's bullcrap, of course.  But, I'm willing to argue anything that might work.)

I absolutely love the idea.

This is a copout.  Make it an actual holiday, observe it on a Friday.  Don't just move the date to Saturday and no one gets anything out of it.  Otherwise, leave it alone.

I'm for moving election day to the middle of summer; this steady stream of negative ads is ruining my Halloween!

Let's beat a dead horse:

A "National" Halloween Holiday?

Sounds like this proposal is running out of steam.  The aims are getting muddied.  But, maybe if there were a National Halloween, states and cities would voluntarily abandon the 31st as their official trick-or-treat days.

No one could ever stop individuals or municipalities from having parties or special events on the traditional day, too.

I saw this article the other day and thought of this very thread. Personally, Halloween to me will always fall on the 31st; HOWEVER, I do like the idea of having it on a Saturday, so that you could spend all day decorating or getting ready for parties or haunts, and then having Sunday to recuperate and shop the 1/2 price sales!

Why not two Halloweens (like Presidents' Day)?

Why settle for two? They have "12 days of Christmas", why not go for the whole enchilada and have 31 days of Halloween?  :D

You're definitely not getting any arguments here.

I haven't read every post, so apologies if this has been covered. One Iowa town I lived in held what they called "beggar's  night", when we did our actual  trick or treating.  It was usually a Friday night if memory serves. The 31st was still Halloween, which we still observed with our school parties.

At the time I thought it odd, but in lieu of this issue, perhaps it's not a bad idea.

I've been seeing posts like this a lot lately, around various social media sites, and I can't wait until it blows over. I'd hate to see Halloween changed to a convenient day like Friday or Saturday and I'd really hate to see it considered part of the "holiday season" - Its commercial enough as it is without completely handing it over to Hallmark.

It's a "war on Halloween" (as conservatives would say about Christmas). Now, it's personal.
