A Technical Question If I may
« on: April 15, 2017, 12:05:14 PM »
Now that my health and computer problems are hopefully behind me, I have once again started the process of updating my site. My webhost changed their software and failed to let me know about it until I noticed a lot of things not working. I have to make all my clips from WMV to MP4 and any midis have to be Mp3. There was a button on my webhost page saying if I wanted to make my site available on ipads and phones click the button to convert. Then I found out it is only good for 10 pages and you have to pay for the rest which I can't absorb that cost. As some of you know my site is almost 4 Gigs and quite large. So that being said does anyone know why I am having to do all this work converting files if I am not going to be accessed by phones and android devices. I am still doing the work because so many things are not working but I want to add more but this must be done first. I have the Universal Steve Originals section done and I am working on the Horror Classics section now. The only difference I have seen is not if I use Google Chrome to view my site everything works now where as before you had to view it with Internet Explorer. Any answers appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi Steve. I used to fiddle with a couple websites, but it's been nearly 10 years so I'm way behind on the latest softwares.  I do understand that you would have to convert wmv and midi files to have them work on different browsers outside of IE. I wish I could be of more help. Does the hosting company offer any additional documentation for making the changes? I took a quick look and it looks like you have a fun tribute site. Best of luck with it.

Glad you like the site. My webhost did finally explained why I had to do this. It is coming along good. I hope to have it all done before the next anniversary of the site which is September 1st. So wen I get done more will be able to see it on their devices but it probably will not work well on androids and phones. I found out it is a seperate service to have the site modified so it can be viewed on phones. I don't want to absorb that cost. I am going to need to use the money to buy more space. The site is at almost a 5 gigs. I am almost out of space and I have more to do when I get this upgrade done.
