I re-watched the Mummy (1932) last Saturday.

Also watched Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (1971)  the other day.

Good stuff on both films.

 Haven't seen Mummy Impossible (2017) yet ... u6juu

"The Mummy's Curse" last night.
And " The Mummy's Hand",  " The Mummy's Tomb" and " The Mummy's Ghost" over the weekend for a Tom Cruise detox.  ;)

I'm guessing that the new Mummy film is not to your liking. I have not seen it yet.

It took me a while to accept the Stephen Sommers Mummy films, as I'm pretty much "old school" but they did grow on me. I really loved his choice of composers and the wonderful music that they created for all three films. I think that really sold me on the "new direction that the Sommers took.

Welcome to UMA Crossbonez74 & Chewmonster. This is a great place and the others members are really (cool and) knowledgeable.

I almost forgot - Thursday night:
The Creature From The Black Lagoon 1954.

Thanks for the welcome Anthony,

I have seen the new Mummy movie, and have mixed feelings on it really. A lot of people don't like the idea of remakes, but i really don't mind them,  its great that these iconic characters are bought to the attentions of new generations once again, who might not have had the pleasure of viewing all the classic and superior originals before.
I cant really compare the new Mummy movie to Karloff's or the ones following after, because they are totally worlds apart and different. There are some good moments in the new Mummy movie, but in my mind, there was just too much Tom Cruise time in the movie, with the Mummy herself, being relegated to being an almost incidental and minor character despite giving an impressive performance. I don't hate Cruise, but he just seemed to be in it too much?

I agree there are so many cool and knowledgeable people on this forum, its fantastic! There are not too many people that i personally know who love the classic horror and Sci fi movies like i have always done since my childhood, but coming on here, it has opened my eyes and restored my faith in peoples good taste. Its a wonderful site.

To piggyback what Chewmonster stated I think the new Mummy film feels more like a vehicle for Tom Cruise than it does a Mummy remake.  The overall direction of the film, Tom Cruise and  the mimicking of Marvels shared universe don't bode well for me.

Hammer Studios (which I dearly love) horror films reinvented the classic monsters with great success.  They focused on making a well made original film versus retreading what has been seen before.    Universal needs to focus on making a good film which in turn will create interest for their shared "Dark Universe".

Bad news on that. THE MUMMY is expected to lose 95 million bucks.

Wow! I guess it will not warrant a viewing from this "old school" Monster kid. I had mixed feelings about it when I heard the Mummy would be female. Don't get me wrong, I love women, but, I'm still very old fashioned when it comes to the Universal Classic Monsters. If it wasn't female in the first place - then leave it alone! That's almost like giving The Bride of Frankenstein a sex change.

Tuesday night:
Bud Abbott & Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein 1948.
