Guy goes to pick up his date at her grandfather's house and ends up transported to an alien planet(along with his date her little sister and their grandfather) and gets involved in a race war between mutants who never leave their city(and thrive on radiation) and humanoids who face starvation..

1960's and here's one more hint: it features a major horror star.

I thought I'd see every '50s and '60s sci-fi movie of any note and this don't ring any bells.

One of Peter Cushing's better roles:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

That's the film!

Great adventure stuff and the Daleks are one of the most iconic sci-fi aliens of all time!  :)

Alrighty then...

Girl gets angry because an old friend has captured the attention of her boyfriend and abandons them on an outing. She ends up staying the night in an abandoned building and runs afoul of the malevolent locals who eventually attack the nearby town, putting it to the sword.
