Hammer's Reptile and Phantom...again? These characters were available for years as 1/6th scale figures. I bought them and they're both really nice. With all of the characters that haven't been done yet why repeat ones already done as excellent 1/6th scale figures as Mego-style figures?
Some folks don't collect 1/6 and only mego scale.
I thought the reason DD started making "Mego-style" 1/9th scale figures is because they could be made for less money to lower the price point. 1/6th seems to be the preferred scale according to the comments I've read. 1/6th Reptile and Phantom were available for years on the DD website up until not long ago for not much more than the Mego-style price. So you're saying that most of DD's business is from people who don't use the DD website?
There is literally a guy on DD's Facebook page who chides Martin with every release he offers....because they aren't all in 1/6, and he won't buy megos, even if he likes the character. People have odd hang ups, lol.
Considering the variety of tastes there probably are many collectors who prefer the 1/9th (Mego). Most of the ones I've heard voice a preference prefer 1/6th. I figured the main reason for DD going "Mego" was the practicality of being able to make figures for less money so as to lower the cost to the customer and increase the chances to sell through on a given figure. That's an assumption, and may not be the case. One reason people may have not been ordering the 1/6th Reptile and Phantom is that everyone who wanted one got one, at that time at least. I think another reason some of the 1/6th DD figures didn't sell well is that they weren't limited to a certain amount and numbered. That's a big deal to some collectors that want to be among the few to own a particular thing. I have no idea why the Karloff series still lingers on the website. I bought them and I'm happy to own them.I prefer 1/6th scale in general but I judge each figure on it's own merits. DD have made some spectacular 1/9th scale figures over the years, as well as 1/6th. I enjoy displaying my DD Mego-styles and I'm glad I bought them when I could. I like the 1/6th scale figures even better, and it looks like those may be few and far between in the future so I'm glad I grabbed them when they were available.

There is a big DD 80's release coming early next year that will sell out in 2 seconds. This main character that has been proto-typed by companies, but never released while being demanded by collectors of every format for figures for this particular property.
