Ok, saw the Mummy tonight. I give it 3/5 stars. Overall fun and entertaining film. Likes: The mummy designundead Knights Templars underwater tomb scenes Russel Crowe as Jekyll/Hyde crashing plane scene Creature from the Black Lagoon easter egg *super stoked when I saw that Critiques: still not a huge fan of Tom Cruise as the lead too jokey at times, stick with monster/horror vibe actions scenes over the top at times---seems like every film has to have disaster scenario not sure if i like obvious American Werewolf in London ripoff story line
Interesting article over at Variety. It appears that Tom Cruise had a lot more influence than was previously known, and it turns out that not only are concerns about the film being a Tom Cruise vehicle not entirely unfounded, but the blame may in fact fall at Cruise's feet as it seems he quite deliberately steered the film onto a more "star-driven" course to stroke his own ego.http://variety.com/2017/film/news/the-mummy-meltdown-tom-cruise-1202465742/
This was exactly how I felt upon viewing this; the film has more emphasis on his character than the Mummy herself and I kept thinking that this had been hijacked into being another Cruise vehicle..
Just got back from seeing The Mummy (2017) and I liked it, but I can't remember a movie that I didn't enjoy.
Wow.REALLY, Creature?Sturgeon's Law doesn't apply, for you?Curiously,-Craig
Guess you haven't seen a Michael Bay film huh? ; P
Man oh man does that new Transformers look rough. I still have no idea what it's about. Why are they acting like Optimus Prime going bad is so surprising? He's gotten more and more bloodthirsty and anti-human with each film. It's waaay out of character for anyone who knows him OUTSIDE the films, but it's also sooo consistent with how he has been portrayed WITHIN them. So it's insulting to long time fans and pointless when it comes to the films themselves since it's the logical next step of a clearly defined downward character arc.Dang it, I'm sorry. Didn't mean to go on a Transformers rant, of all things.
At this point they may as well backtrack...again..and bring in Luke Evans; maybe the tie-in to Dracula Untold would bring them the desired box office.
