Visited a friend of ours - John Lloyd Balderston
« on: November 18, 2016, 10:50:12 PM »
You may not be familiar with the name...but you love his work. John Lloyd Balderston was a writer and the screenwriter for a number of our favorite movies, including Dracula (he actually wrote the play that the movies was based upon), The Mummy (screenplay), he adapted The Bride of Frankenstein to screen, and was involved with Frankenstein, Dracula's Daughter, Mad Lover and many others. Check IMDB for a complete list.

i found out that his family was from my area, and that his final interment was in a now overgrown cemetery in Colora, MD. So I took a trip to pay my respects and thank him for a lifetime of thrills, chills and monsterriffic fun.

An appropriately spooky final resting place.

Funny that you bring this up because I just watched the original Dracula for the 50th time a few nights ago, and it wasn't until my latest viewing of the film that Mr. Balderston's name caught my eye in the opening credits. ;)

A life without Halloween and monsters is a life of boredom.
