I do see what thm is talking about. On the figure his brow is furled at the bridge of the nose. This is what gives it it's angry look to me. Look at the movie close up below and it is definitely expressionless. Being that his mask is dried skin it would not reflect any expression made under the mask. This may have been an artistic decision rather than an inaccuracy.
When I used to have dogs one of their favorite treats was dried pig ears (yeah, weird I know). The flesh was hard and brittle and had a very similar look and color to Leatherface's mask. They had no flexibility whatsoever. I imagine his mask would have the same characteristics and would be rather uncomfortable to wear.
Leatherface had a more "puppy dog" look in his eyes. That's what makes him one of the more cuddly and lovable slasher/cannibals. I see the comparrison with Norman Bates (they were both inspired by serial killer Ed Gein), but Leatherface is a lot more warm and fuzzy than Norman. Also, Leatherface is a pretty damn good cook. Next time you're passing through Texas, try a big bowl of the Sawyer family chili. Yum!
Just watch out for those hard pepper corns!
I received an e-mail invite to an early preorder for an edition that includes a hammer, plus I get free shipping. Just placed my order. They have 20 photos up now and it looks GREAT! It goes live for everyone to preorder today (9/22/16) at noon PST. Don't miss out as the edition size is 1,000, out I expect it to go quick.
