         Spookies, 1986 - BLU-Ray - Vinegar Syndrome - Released:  February 25, 2020

Peter Dain, Nick Gionta, Joan Ellen Delaney, Peter Iasillo and Charlotte Alexandra.

When their car breaks down, a group of travelers take shelter in an old mansion.  They find a Ouija Board and decide to try to see if it will provide any diversion.  It does.

     Bonus Features:

          -  Region Free Blu-ray (2-disc set)
          -  Newly scanned & restored in 4k from its 35mm original camera negative
          -  "Twisted Tale - The Unmaking of Spookies" - making-of documentary, & commentary track with Michael Gingold & Glen Baisley and deleted scenes
          -  "VIPCO - The Untold Story" - documentary on the notorious UK home video label, including extended interview with Michael Lee (founder of VIPCO) and a trailer
          -  2015 Alamo Drafthouse screening introductions with Spookies director Thomas Doran and co-writer/producer Frank M. Farel
          -  Q&A from a 2015 Hudson Horror Show screening with actor Peter Iasillo, actor Anthony Valbiro and production assistant Tom Sciacca
          -  Archival locations featurette with actor Peter Iasillo
          -  Pinreel outtakes and bloopers
          -  Behind the scenes still gallery
          -  Theatrical trailer
          -  Reversible cover artwork with new artwork by Gary Pullin
          -  English SDH subtitles

I would be happy if the girl in the film looked like the one in the BLU-Ray cover graphics.

Do not underestimate Nick Gionta. He puts DeNiro to shame.

I have the limited edition "Spookies" Blu ray that was released earlier and immediately sold out. The movie itself is terrible, but the story behind the making of the movie is pretty incredible. It's also full of great, practical monsters from the Golden Age of practical effects. I'm not sure anybody would really want to sit through the resulting film unless they spent as much of their youth in the video store culture of the 1980's as I did, but the good news is the transfer is pristine.

I just plunked down $17.50 (shipping included) on a New copy from Canada.  I knew I was lucky to get it at that price.

I was looking at getting it and saw that the prices were nuts.  I figured it was sold out.  I too, was getting it for the practical effects.

I believe that there is a standard Blu ray release out now that shouldn't cost that much and I'm pretty sure the only difference is that it doesn't include a slip cover. It's a fun collectible of a pretty obscure movie that was hard-to-find for a long time, but it's not a masterpiece by any means. lol

Definitely.  It's one of the only films I have ever watched and it compelled me to wonder how the train wreck came about; I looked it up while watching the movie and was definitely more more entertained by the behind the scenes story.

I keep thinking Spookies would be a great name for some monster-themed cookies.

Like Animal Crackers, they could be shaped like different monsters and one or more like the girl. And try new Chocolate Spookies"

We can get this on Blu-Ray but we can't get the Oscar winning Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 1932 ?!?!  >:(

This came in the mail yesterday. I'm excited for when I can delve into this new release! However, I am more excited about the upcoming EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN Collector's Edition :)
