Does anyone remember what year the Creature From the Black Lagoon was broadcast on TV in 3-D? I'm sure it's been done more than once, but I distinctly remember from my childhood (early 90s) that it was broadcast in 3-D. There was a big marketing campaign surrounding it and the ads for it showed kids sitting in front of a TV and a Creature hand popping out of it. The 3-D glasses had to be picked up at a Ticketmaster location and the glasses themselves had the Creature head between the lenses, and his arms stretching out onto the temples.

Can anyone please tell me what year this was? I'm thinking '90 or '91, but I want to be sure. I'd love to have a pair of the glasses again. This TV broadcast was my first introduction to Universal monsters, so it holds a special place in my monster-lovin heart! Thanks guys!

Here are a couple from My collection, The bottom one says 93 Sorry NFS

Creature Features

I wish they'd do another promotion like that these days...
"It's Alive...oh, It's Alive! It's Alive, It's Alive...IT'S ALIVE!!!"

The pair on the top were given away in Ohio (at least) but it was for a special showing of Revenge of The Creature hosted by Dr. Creep. Had to be early to mid eighties. King Kwik and Seven Eleven (both non-existent in my area now) is where they gave them out with a Slurpee or slush puppie purchase.  Or something like that.

Oh, yeah. I was trying to get all the Marvel Comics Slurpee cups. I drove the clerks crazy making them pull out all the cups until they got to one I didn't have! I still have many of them. I used to have a huge poster that hung int he window advertising the Marvel cups. I *wish* I still had that!!

I remember in the 80's, seeing it listed in the weekly TV guide (remember those) circling it, buying the glasses at 7-11 and could barely wait till it aired that week. I believe it was part of Creature Features that week. Great memories.
"For one who has lived but a single lifetime, you are a wise man ...Van Helsing."
"I shall awaken memories of love and crime and death..."

I remember seeing Revenge of the Creature in 3-D on the Son of Svengoolie back in the 80's.  What fun.  We had a big viewing party with my whole famile(including my grandparents.)  Ah, the memories......

I still have my John Wayne Hondo glasses from when the 3D version of that film was broadcast.

Pepsi is showing a commercial during Super Bowl that will be in 3D, in conjunction with some 3D flick being released soon. I just found out due to the fact we are getting some of the glasses in at work to give away. All local stores that sell Pepsi are supposed to have them.

Oh yeah!! I lived a short bike ride from 7-11,and must have approached diabetic shock many times after downing multiple cola Slurpees while browsing the comics.
