Most of which was swiped from here.

http://monstermagazines.blogspot.com/2010/07/moon-monster.html

Well if he was going to swipe info, he certainly went to the best place!

 ;)

Still it's nice to see the Moon Monster finally getting long overdue attention! Moon Monster finally seems to be moving to the big time, just like Shock Monster did earlier this century.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for these noble characters to hit the big screen. Maybe even together! I can see it now on the theater marquee - Moon Monster vs. Shock Monster! Why it could potentially be as big as these two other much acclaimed classics:

And here are some pics of the toy itself:

So circa 1970 wild cool ads like these showcasing a Life Size Moon Monster began to appear in better comic magazines everywhere:

But those who sent in their dollar to join America's only Monster Fan Club received so much more! An itemized list of what the lucky subscribers scored is catalogued right here.

Those ads for the Life Size Moon Monster were of course not the only ads in comic mags capable of tempting youngsters to send their hard scrounged cash off to some distant P.O. Box. There were many! Here are two more of my favourites:

Mail-Order Mysteries by Kirk Demarais is an essential resource when choosing from among the many offerings in one's comic library:

Yes, the flimsier the actual item, the less likely it was to survive a kid's handling; the tackier the item, the more likely it was to be pitched  by a parent in clean-up mode. Therefore the flimsier and tackier the better, because so few will have survived in the hands of others that your own will now fetch mega bucks on Fleabay!

Someone at the auction house just got very lucky on one of these. Less than $400.

Ahhhhh, the not often pictured Drac view of the fabled popcorn bucket.

The bucket was missing the popcorn though! You couldn't expect it to fetch any more than $400 therefore.

But only if it was the original popcorn. No repop!
