Martin,
I'm just calling this to your attention as a loyal customer. I'm not trying to bug you. This shipping cost issue will only become more pronounced with time as the shipping costs invariably rise. It isn't close to a deal breaker, just an annoyance at this point. I'll stick with DD because of the quality. Customers honestly pointing out these kinds of concerns help companies improve. It's for the good of DD, and we all want DD to thrive. Peace.  :)

I understand Micheal but as I say, shipping is included in the price for a reason.  If I start discounting because someone buys both releases,  do I then start discounting because one customer is a state nearer the forwarder?

Martin, whatever you do...don't lose that forwarder. The guy has been doing an incredible job.

Also tell him the word is too, NOT to. He's struggling with the English language as well.

Fascinating. Yet, I am not at all surprised, after all...how many "Hair Bear Bunch" collectibles are there for folks these days? You have to go vintage to get anything. Kudos on Hair Bear's sell out! You forgot his acsot though. Shamey shamey.

One of these days, my wife is going to come downstairs, unable to sleep, and find me playing with my Kolchak DD figure as he does battle with sundry monsters from nearly every decade. Then I might just have to stop collecting these.  Until that time though... (BTW, I think this werewolf is rather cute. Glad I snaggletoothed one.)

Not surprised in the least. I certainly didn't hesitate to order one. I think it has a charming retro stylized look. Teenage Frankenstein will be history even quicker, especially if The Maestro (Steve Thompson) breathes life into him.  ededed

Basically every single mego style figure DD has made, with the exception of the Karloff line, has been sold. That's just awesome. Especially considering we are talking about non stop releases for the past 5 years.

Which should tell us all something. If a company or individual makes dreck....it will cease to be produced. If a company/individual makes cool looking swag....the train keeps on trucking. I fully believe the reason for The Karloff line still having figures left was the mandate of 100 figures of each character be produced. Also there's the fact that Karloffs films are older. So, of course, Hammer, Vincent Price, Fright Night, Salem's Lot, Pennywise and the like will sell out faster.  Newer properties. There are more people who are alive who were kids when they saw those films. So they are still more in the collecting circuit's consciousness.  The Karloff line isn't a bad line though. I have them. I really like Fu Manchu and Bateman. Poelzig isnt a bad figure either. The Morgan (even though I painted it) is my least favorite. because the star of Old Dark House isn't Boris Karloff by any stretch of the imagination. the character is meh.

Martin listens to his fanbase if its constructive. If its not--then (insert fart noise here). Long before I ever started painting for him, he asked me about thigns. As a customer...I am sure everyone remembers my disappointment about human faced Phibes being nekkid under his robes, and his ungloved hands. When skull faced Phibes was released: he had a doctor's suit on under his robes...and gloved hands.  If its a good idea...he implements it.

Unless the day comes that there are 10-12 mego figures languishing on his website, as more figures are put up for pre-order, I don't think Martin has anything to worry about. Even if some folks think some figures look like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or even a Leprechaun.  Hey....Leprechaun....I aint a fan....but someone might be,lol. ;)

I love the skull faced DD Phibes figure! One of the best and most accurate sculpts DD has ever done. Also, I have suggested this before, make a Karloff Mr Gray figure from The Body Snatcher. I think it would sell out in a day. What a great figure that would make in either mego or 1/6 form.

I think Martin is a bit gun shy about Karloff at the moment. If you'll recall, he was thinking about going after Chaney next....but we never heard anything else about it after Karloff didn't sell through. :'(

That Karloff line is perplexing. You would think that even with editions of 100 they would have long been sold out. It's a strange combination of unfortunate things which has left that series feeling tainted- The edition size which was forced by the licensor, some of the sculpts being less than popular, Fu's fingernail problems, the fact that they have hung around on the website for so long when the other Mego-styles evaporate quickly and sometimes instantly, probably other things I'm forgetting or just don't know about. The humdrum rep the Karloffs seem to have gained is just kind of weird. I mean, this is King Karloff, the biggest icon among horror actors. Weird.  ???

I bought them all and have them displayed with my other DD Mego-styles. I like them and I'm glad I bought them, but when it comes time to start boxing up DD figures to make room for new ones the Karloffs will probably be the first ones down.

I can understand why Martin wants to stay away from demanding licensors.

Yes, Karloff is the king. However, it's almost solely due to Frankenstein and the Mummy with the general population. Its only a small group, like us, that appreciate the rest of Karloff's lesser known works. I image even in our circle, there are people who are not big on the other lesser know films. For me, Frankenstein is my all time favorite monster. Also, Karloff's Mummy image is one of the greatest monster images of all time. I did enjoy his other work such as The Body Snatcher, The Raven, Before I Hang and a couple of others. Imo, all great films.

Hit the nail on the head, thm.  The Karloff figures are rather obscure characters to most, and only us hardcore fans can truly appreciate them.  These characters also do not look like monsters, so they wouldn't resonate with a random buyer who is debating on dropping $80 on a figure.  It was a gamble for DD, and I think something to learn from at the least.  But I am generally pleased with the Karloff series and glad to have purchased them.

But DD customers are that small group. And, there are way more than 100 of us. I'm still amazed the Karloffs haven't sold out long ago.
