There are many 'event' parallels (university locales for the 'doctors') but the cameos were decent, and the actresses did everything as expected. The direct comparisons will never match Bill Murray lampooning Aykroyd for his challenge to the librarian-ghost. I did my best to purge myself of expecting those possible parallels (frankly, nothing can match those original scenes) and this allowed me to lower my expectations considerably. I wasn't disappointed. It was decent enough, and just different enough to allow me to skip past the obvious attempted parallels. And I kept remembering, "At least Pus Van Zant wasn't shooting a shot-for-shot remake..."
I'll see if I can rent the reboot from my nearby library this week or so, I probably can. I feel compelled to give it a shot now, for some reason.
My expectations are extremely low as is going into it.
