A Taste of Halloween
« on: October 05, 2015, 12:52:42 PM »
No, this thread is not about toys.  But it isn't about memorabilia, either.

Since we are posting Halloween updates in this category, I am posting this thread here, too.  If the moderators feel this should be relocated, please feel welcome to do so.

The familiar smell of fresh pumpkin roasting over a candle always makes my taste buds tingle in anticipation of the special treats of Halloween.  Here are some products that can only be had during the holiday season.

All of the following products are being sold at Walmart and Walmart Food Stores:

Thomas' English Muffins, Pumpkin Spice - Limited Edition.  (Thomas' is also making Pumpkin Spice Bread and Bagels.)

If you like toast in the morning, I heartily recommend the English Muffins.  Haven't tried the other two, but the Bagels sound good.

I like to spread this on my muffins:

Kozlowski Farms Pumpkin Butter, available year 'round.

If you've ever had apple butter, it's kinda the same but spicier.  I normally have it on a dark rye - even better if you sprinkle chopped walnuts on top.

Ben & Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream, Limited Edition.

Good, mild flavor.  This would have to be good as a topper on apple pie - or instead of whipped cream on pumpkin pie.

M&M's Candy Corn Flavored White Chocolate.

Haven't tried these.  Said to be typical white chocolate with a hint of the Candy Corn flavor.  Might be good if you like the flavor of Candy Corn but hate the waxy texture.

Sweet's Candy Corn Flavored Taffy.

Also haven't tried these.  But might be good to have the Candy Corn flavor with a salt water taffy texture?

What special products have you found?

Just had half a giant bag of candy corn M&Ms. Those are great (no waxy texture).

I hope to find a pumpkin beer that ACTUALLY tastes good.
So far the one's I've tasted don't taste much like pumpkin OR beer - just takes like something that does not belong together.

But yes, pumpkin pie always rocks.

I love the taste of beer, but hate the taste of pumpkins. I would love cheesecake beer, though.

I love pumpkin flavored everything, I stock up on Pumpkin bread mix this time of year.
Pumpkin Pie shakes at Arctic Circle (fast food chain)

Ghoul Aid Kool-aid Scary Blackberry is exquisitely divine, I challenge you to sip it without your pinky in the air link a snob. I bought a case at target, or as I call it Targeeeeaaaaaay, it is way more classy (and expensive) than Walmart, has carts that glide instead of shimmy, and the checkout girls are less homely.

Found this new Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice & Roasted Pumpkin Seeds Bread by Oroweat at the local Albertsons Supermarket.

The pumpkin spice flavor isn't as strong as I would have liked, but the crunchy roasted pumpkin seeds are a nice touch.

Albertsons is also carrying the full line of Thomas' Pumpkin Spice English Muffins, Bagels and Bread.

Anyone know who's selling these?

Milky Way Minis - Caramel Apple, Limited Edition.

I'd like to be able to gives these out to the trick-or-treaters - especially if the also come in the larger "Fun Size".
