Are we all pretty much in agreement that the decal was originally rectangular? And that this is a cut-away example of how it originally was?

I would think so. If it's die-cut, it's pretty weird. If I were making a copy to put on a car, I'd make it a rectangle.

I'm with ya Mike....rectangle it is. Still mystifies me as to how it was applied with that ridge running along the side doors.....

The car doesn't appear to be able to accommodate a sticker of that size. It looks like a cut-down header card to me, especially with the extra information on it. Item numbers and copyright information are usually put on packaging and somewhere on the toy mold, not on a decorative sticker. The stickers for my Haunted Hulk, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea vehicles, or Hamilton's Invaders toys don't have any of that extra information.

Ah Ha! So, they never went on the car! This makes perfect sense, to me!

I'm assuming you know this for a fact and it's not just something your heard? (I could be something your heard, from an indisputable source.)

Hey, wait a minute! Aren't you the guy that said "Does anyone know what the original packaging was for these cars?" a few pages back?

Hi Buddy!
Here's the post it was originally put in. about halfway down the page. The  general had blown up the individual ad and you could see the odd shape of the sticker if I remember correctly,  now his picture is gone...I saved it somewhere, just have to find where?
