A couple of DVDs of French stuff:

Cocteau's "Beauty and the Beast" (loved this one since forever)
Landmarks of Early Film Vol. 2 (short films of Georges Melies)

I have not seen any of the short films on the Melies disc, and so I'm sort of excited about viewing those.
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

I take it those are both Criterion discs. I have the "Beauty and the Beast", but not the Melies.

Exactly what I thought when I finally found the list.

No wonder they didn't want to tell you what was inside.

No way, don't buy that set. I bought it for less than $20 at Best Buy a few years ago. For that price it's a good bargain, but $70 no way. You're better off buying the VP Collections on Blu-ray. It's not a bad deal for the price I paid it because you get a few movies not on the blu-ray sets like Madhouse, Theatre of Blood, The Bat and Tales of Terror. But at $70 they're crazy.

The "Beauty and the Beast" is a Criterion disc, and the Melies disc is from Image.  Image had a "Vol. 1" also, which has a lot of assorted shorts by different early filmmakers, and that one is pretty good, too.

I'll have to check amazon for the Melies disc.

Got the new Chandu the Magician blu from Kino in the mail yesterday. Never seen this one, plus it has some pretty interesting bonus features on it.
"....flying saucers? You mean the kind from up there?"

They don't say - and I can't find anyone else who is selling it.

Guess I'll buy it and find out. Maybe, someday, I'll even get to see it in 3D!

If no one else posts details by then, I will let everyone know when I get my copy - I have already pre-ordered mine.

I won't be able to evaluate the 3D.  It was the only feature I opted out of when I got my TV.  It would have been another $125.00 and I don't even like 3D.

I'm not crazy about it, either, but I would like to see this and Creature in 3D.

I saw the Creech Bluray in 3-D at my brother's house....it's unbelievably good (and I'm not a 3-D guy either).

Is it like all the other 3D I've seen, where everything looks like a flat cut-out standing at different distances from the camera?

Not really. I've seen it in 3-D before, but it's never looked this good (plus it's in wide-screen unlike the regular version).
