They did when it came to DST!

Universal didn't actively seek out that figure, they sure as hell aren't going to turn down licensing money.   :D

I hope this will be released on BRD too.  I hope that the prints will be the restored versions on both the DVD and BRD sets.

Expect the Blu-ray set in about 5 years after the dvd editions are all gone/clearanced out, they'll just assume everyone would love to double dip on this set.

As far as restored prints, don't get your hopes up; First of all if they were I'm sure they'd be touting it in the press release and secondly if the picture is accurate there are 30 films spread across 19 dvd's.  They'd have to be compressed as hell to present the HD/restored prints.

Amazon lists it as 21 disks. But, those 2 extra disks might contain the bonus features.

I'm betting that someone at Amazon just couldn't count.

This will probably be close to the original Classic Monster Collection so there's 7 discs + maybe a standalone A&C meet Frankenstein.  The rest of the set as double features would cover 11 discs.  Unless they are doing chronilogical order like the Complete A&C set.

Well according to Mike's info below it is 21 discs but there is duplication on several films.  It's basically a rerelease of the Legacy sets with the A&C Meet films added to that particular monsters set, as well as the standalone Phantom.

This set should have included "The Climax," the quasi-sequel to "Phantom of the Opera" starring Karloff.

I'd trade in those two duds for the REAL Phantom of the Opera (Chaney).

I'll probably get the INVISIBLE MAN set to replace the 4 sequels from the DVD18s. I've got all the other sequels in the double feature DVDs.

Did the DVD18s give you that much trouble? I haven't had any problems so far.

What, no A&C meet Frankenstein on the Invisible Man set?!  What a joke, I refuse to buy this set until they fix that error.

Universal doesn't own it anymore. Same with "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Granted, being they are PD, they could release them, but they'd have to license the prints from whoever put out the most recent releases. Kino or BlackHawk Films, most likely. Damn fools at Universal let the copyrights lapse back in the '80s, I believe.

I don't see "Son of Frankenstein" on the Frankenstein set. Is that a mistake?

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't notice. These were copied from the amazon "extras" lists and maybe SOF didn't have any? I'll add the title after BRIDE, as I'm sure that's where it will be.

Yes, they have never included any extras on the "Son of Frankenstein" releases. It's a shame, since it's one of the better films.
